operant conditioning vs classical conditioning

classical conditioning describes an involuntary, or automatic, response to a stimulus. Classical conditioning is what happens when an animal learns associations among things. Learning associations means learning that things go together. and operant conditioning is a set of principals that describe how an animal learns to survive in its environment through reinforcement (consequences). so they are different.

punishment

four reasons why punishment is bad are:

1. is that by punishment you are making someone go against you.

2.by punishing a boy you are making him do more bad things.

3.punishment is bad because you are making someone do not love you.

4. punishment is bad because is making you be a bad rolemodel.http://http//www.philosophyetc.net/2007/05/is-corporal-punishment-so-bad.html

basics of operant conditioning

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT

in a positive reinforcement a particular behavior is strengthened by the consequence of experiencing a psositive condition.

NEGATIVE REINFORCEMNT

In a negative reinforcement a particular behavior is strengthened by the consequence of stopping or avoiding a negative condition.

POSITIVE PUNISHMENT

in attempt to decrease the likehood of a behavior occuring in the future, an operant response is followed by the presentation of an aversive stimulus. this is well known as a positive punishment.

NEGATIVE PUNISHMENT

in attempt to decrease the likehood of a behavior occuring in the future, an operant responseis followed by the removal of an appetitive stimulus amd this is negative punishment.http://www.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/proj/nru/opcond.html

B.F. Skinner

He discovered and advanced the rate of response as a dependent variable in psychological research. He invented the cumulative recorder to measure rate of responding as part of his highly influential work on schedules of reinforcement. In a recent survey, Skinner was listed as the most influential psychologist of the 20th century. He was a prolific author who published 21 books and 180 articles.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._F._Skinner

He noticed that the dogs tended to salivate before food was actually delivered to their mouths, and set out to investigate this "psychic secretion", as he called it.
